Muslim women from abroad, pursuing degrees in higher education, are among a special and noteworthy breed of students. Often you will find them at international student events or active in the Muslim Student Associations of various universities. They are committed to academic excellence, perfecting their faith, and making a difference in their communities. The Institute of International Education’s 2013 “Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange” stated that in the 2012-13 school year there were almost 820,000 international students studying at universities in the United States, nearly three times the number of U.S. students studying abroad. Among these students are Muslim women who come from all over the world in search of higher education.
